Easter Softball Classic

Rules and Information

  1. The home team will be determined by a coin toss with the team traveling the greatest distance calling the toss, except for the playoff rounds where the higher place team will be the home team. If both teams placed the same, then we will revert back to the coin toss.
  2. The home team will be the official score keeper and will be responsible for submitting the score summary sheet to the snack bar, who will in turn be calling the line scores into the Fresno Bee. The visiting team will be responsible for the operation of the scoreboard.
  3. There will be a 1 hour and 30 minute time limit on all games, except for the championship game. No new inning will start after time has run out, unless the game is tied. If time has expired before the inning is over, you will be allowed to finish the inning. In the championship game, the tiebreaker rule will be in effect after 10 innings. The runner will start at second base each inning.
  4. The tournament tiebreaker rule will be in effect in the 8th inning if the game is tied. The tiebreaker rule will also be in effect with the start of the new inning if the time has run out before 7 complete innings could be played and the score is tied. The last batter/runner of the previous inning will start the inning at third base.
  5. CIF rules will be in effect, with the exception of the tournament tiebreaker rule. No protest will be allowed.
  6. Each team will furnish 1 ball each game. The home team will furnish 1 new ball and the visiting team will furnish 1 good used ball. The plate umpire must accept the used ball. The only ball that will be used for this tournament is the yellow Dudley CFP-12.
  7. Forfeit time is game time. In the event of a forfeit, the team not forfeiting will receive a win and their runs for the tournament will be averaged at the end of pool play to determine a run total. A total of 0 runs will be added to their runs allowed.
  8. Pool play winners and places will be determined by the following criteria:
  9. 1st criteria: Win-Loss record

2nd criteria: Head to Head competition

    3rd criteria: Fewest runs allowed

    4th criteria: Most runs scored

    5th criteria: Coin flip

In the case of more than two teams ending pool play tied, once a winner of the pool has been decided using the criteria above, the remaining teams will start back at criteria two to decide the second place team.

  10. There will be a snack bar available throughout the entire tournament.
  11. Absolutely no hitting of any type of ball against any fence at Buchanan High.
  12. No warm upon the infield will be allowed. If the game before yours has been completed, you may warm up in the outfield area. In addition, we will have an area designated for warm ups. As a safety precaution, we do not want any throwing/warming up inside the complex between fields.
  13. The umpires will start the games at the exact starting time according to the schedule.
  14. There will not be a trainer on duty at the tournament.
  15. There will be 2 umpires assigned to each varsity game and 1 umpire assigned to each JV game. If for some reason umpires do not show by game time, then it might be necessary to reassign umpires so that each game has at least one umpire.
  16. Each team must furnish a roster of no more than 18 players and 3 coaches. This roster must be turned in at the front gate on your arrival or prior to your first contest.
  17. There will be a charge of $4.00 per day for adults and $2.00 for high school students with student body cards and children over the age of 6 years old. Children under 6 years old are free. An adult must accompany all children.
  18. Absolutely no liquor, smoking, or ice chests. Head coaches may bring in an ice chest for team use. (school facility)
  19. Please clear dugouts quickly and hold team meetings outside the dugout area. Please pick up after yourself in the dugout areas and around the complex.
  20. In case of rain, the tournament will be postponed the number of days needed during spring break in order to complete it. Please call Mike Noel @ 297-0865 or Del January @ 645-0136 the morning of a rainy day.
  21. There will be awards given to the 1st and 2nd place teams, with individual awards given to the winning teams.
  22. Please park all buses on Nees. Ave.
  23. The team on the left of the schedule will occupy the third base dugout, unless occupied from the previous game.

Every effort has been made to insure that scheduling is fair for all teams participating, i.e. travel, etc. The tournament directors hope that your team has a positive experience at this year’s tournament. If any questions should arise please do not hesitate to call any of the individuals listed below.

If at any time you have a suggestion that you feel would make for a more successful tournament in the future, please write it down and leave it at the snack bar or with one of the tournament directors. We appreciate any input you may have. Thank you for your participation in this year’s tournament and good luck to all teams.
